Thanks! It was at Dunedin Vegan Deli formerly in Dunedin/Clearwater Florida. I actually created that menu item as I was a minority owner in the business. Sadly, it closed down due in 2022 bad decisions by made by the majority owners. Hoping to be able to open up spot on my own at some point under the name @pop.vegan on IG.

I think I lucked out and got there as they were stocking the shelves. They didn’t have any other flavors of sour strips though. It’s crazy too because some private sellers are trying to sell them for like 12 to 13 bucks a pack on Amazon!

Ha, it’s definitely possible if you’re not used to consuming enough fiber and your stomach can’t tolerate it. I’ve been plant based for over 20 years, so I have a very high tolerance for fiber. I ate the whole pack with no issues lol.

I previously was a partner 4 in vegan restaurants Tampa area. I have been in the process of opening one up on the Ft. Lauderdale Florida area, but dealing with permit issues. Considering looking into opening a new one up in Tampa or doing a ghost kitchen.

Thanks so much! That was definitely one of my goals since many other videos I’ve watched they didn’t bother to tuck the ends in properly, and it the result turns out looking messy and not like as much like a hot dog. It was definitely the trickiest and most time consuming part. The other part I spent my time doing was shaving the ends with a peeler to be round as possible. I actually just bought some rice paper this morning and I think I’m going to make an instructional video soon, since I’ve gotten so many questions about it.

I was just about to ask if you can make a video showing how you wrapped them in the rice paper.

That’s a valid question, and I appreciate the respectful way you asked it. Most people don’t give up eating meat because they dislike its taste. Instead, they choose to go vegan or vegetarian for various reasons, such as health benefits, compassion for animals, being grossed out by the idea of eating dead animals, or environmental concerns. While some people may give up meat due to taste, I believe they are likely a small percentage. I don’t see how it can be considered cheating if something is meaty, as there are a variety of plant-based foods with a meaty texture, and even the inside of a coconut is called coconut meat. However, people who claim to be vegan and choose to eat chicken or fish on occasion would be an example of cheating. Some people claim to be vegan or vegetarian for the status purpose. Personally, I haven’t consumed meat in 21 years and have never had the desire to consume actual meat since. I even had minority ownership in a Vegan Deli for a while, and you’d be surprised at types of food we were able to create and a very high percentage of our customers were non vegans.

I’ve often wondered the same thing. And I think maybe they call it a “hotdog” instead of what it is, a cooked carrot on a bun, to trick their mind into believing they’re eating a hotdog!

@@mbp_33 That’s a good theory, but it’s definitely not the case. The point of seasoning, marinating, and altering the texture is to create a healthier alternative that still gives a similar vibe to eating a hotdog. If I wanted to eat a cooked carrot, I would just eat a cooked carrot. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t feel the need to change it to trick myself into thinking I’m not eating a cooked carrot-I would just eat something else. Sometimes I eat cooked carrots, sometimes I eat carrot dogs. It depends on what I’m in the mood for. I could eat an Impossible hotdog, but that also has its faults in terms of health.

It taste like a hot dog. As far as texture the outside had rice paper on it so had a snap like a hot dog, but the inside still has a carrot texture. Tasted great on a hot dog bun with toppings.

When you cook a carrot, it tastes like a carrot. But when you marinate it in broth with different spices and seasonings, add sauce, wrap it in rice paper, and then cook it, it tastes different. Just in case you didn’t understand the basic principles of cooking.

Why do you make your animals look like food? A hotdog doesn’t naturally look like that?

I have a friend who has to severely limit her meat consumption for her health, but she still likes meat. I'm going to try and make a couple of these for her.

In what weird little bubble are you living in ? Im not vegan but i am a chef and if youre so narrow minded that thats the only idea of you managed to come up with you shouldn't be trying to esucate others of food let along creativity
